N'Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) 500 mg capsules contain a highly stable form of cysteine, an important sulfur-containing amino acid.

The NAC-Glutathione Connection: Glutathione is vital to the body's antioxidant defense system. Adequate levels of glutathione may protect against atherosclerosis, cataracts, macular degeneration and some liver diseases. Although some supplements contain glutathione, it is preferable to take a precursor, such as NAC, to raise glutathione levels, because most supplemental glutathione is hydrolyzed in the gastrointestinal tract before being absorbed. NAC increases tissue levels of glutathione and is less expensive.

Each capsule contains:
N'acetyl L-cysteine (NAC).................500 mg

Recommended Adult Dose

1 capsule 2–3 times daily or as directed by a health care practitioner. For reducing oxidative stress during exercise, take 4 capsules daily before exercise, or as directed by a health care practitioner.

Additional Information

Children: As the effects of NAC in children have not been sufficiently evaluated, it should not be used in children unless recommended by a health care practitioner.

Pregnancy and Nursing: As the effects of NAC during pregnancy and lactation have not been sufficiently evaluated, it should not be used during these times unless recommended by a health care practitioner.

Seniors: No special precautions are known.
